Desperate for a Vacation?? Janjheli is welcoming you
I was lucky to be a part of delegation invited by H.P Tourism Ministry for a 3 days long showcasing of the Janjehli festival. Hospitality was at its best with the limited resources available. Local were perfect host and they made our stay very comfortable. I would say during these 3 days of stay I never felt going for sleep as every moment I wanted to catch in my eyes & memory.
The inviting forest orchards, deodar trees, snake-like river and fresh hill air of Janjheli is beckoning all the tourists, who would like to re-energize themselves in its lap for a few days. The excuse here is a four-day event (July 11 – July 14), the Janjheli Festival, which is meant to promote tourism in the region.
At a height of 2,200m, Janjehli is one of the rather unexplored territories and the terrain has a lot to do with it. Reaching the place can be an arduous job and it is definitely not for the faint-hearted. But once you reach the spot, it’s sheer heaven.
Festival is an effort to showcase the rich cultural diversity and natural beauty of the area.
More about Janjehli and planning a trip, Janjehli Valley is a verdant and lush region located at a height of 2150 m in Himachal Pradesh. It is situated 70 km from Mandi in Thunag district, and 13 km from the main town of Thunag.

Located around 6 km from the Janjehli Valley, Bulah is a vast meadow. It is a cool place for a day picnic or for simply spending some time to absorb and to soak in its beauty.
If you are travelling to Janjheli from Mandi, you will come across the Keolidhar Valley, Bagsaid Valley and Bhim Shila. Needless to mention, all these locations are breathtakingly beautiful. However, Bhim Shila is a giant stone, which cannot be moved by any other force except that of your smallest finger! Try it if you happen to be there.
A day’s trek from Janjheli will take you to Budah Kedar located at a height of 9000 ft. You may also trek to Magru Gala, which is a high mountainous pass, and from there, move for Pandoh and Mandi. Alternatively, tourists can take the route towards Shikari Devi from Kataru or from Bulah, where they can find a wildlife sanctuary and a temple.
There is yet another more well-known place called Banjar near Janjehli (40 km) which is frequented by a lot of foreign and local tourists.
How to reach Janjehli?
Janjehli is 39 km from the Bhuntar Airport in Kullu. Rail trippers can take a train to the Joginder Nagar Railway Station. By road, Janjheli is 67 km from Mandi. There are several taxis available from the railway station for Janjehli.
